MathbyMathlene is a black-owned, female-owned, and mom-owned business. Our main focus is to offer relatable math concepts in a fun, engaging way for children ages 4-10. We sell books, and give access to worksheets, blogs, and more to have children have a more interactive experience.

Mathlene and the Moving Numbers is the first of a series of books based on the character created by Lorraine (Molokwu) Buchanan. The Mathlene Numero Series features a 7-year old black girl named Mathlene Numero who is learning about math and numbers as many kids do. She will learn a range of topics that are applicable to everyday life in fun, rhythmic language.

The first book in the series, Mathlene and the Moving Numbers, covers the basic concept of the commutative property. It has challenge problems and aligns with State Common Core Learning Standards, which can be adapted to other standards across the country if needed. There is also a challenge for students with disabilities. Each subsequent book will feature work for a varied amount of students, in hopes to reach a multitude of learners.

Mathlene is and continues to be a passion project of mine. I hope that it will impact children and grownups alike in a positive way.
